Perfect Foundation Even After Swimming?! It’s True!

In 1, Fashion, Fashion, beauty on August 17, 2009 at 10:03 pm

I didn’t believe it either. I never even strived for it I thought it was so far fetched, it wasn’t even something that I searched for. Like so many girls who spent their childhood splashing in water whenever they could and loving every second of it, I allowed my adolescent insecurities and young adult vanity get in the way of my fun. Curly, frizzy beach hair aside, I would get hung up on whether letting loose and going under water was worth having to spend the day concealer free with my blemishes exposed to all!

It may have had something to do with the poolside mojitos that I had enjoyed this one fateful morning at a ritzy LA hotel, but I had decided to let loose and enjoy myself in the beautiful pool that had been tempting me all week. After splashing around and swimming underwater for a good half hour I emerged from the pool to be greeted by my friend’s astonishment when they told me that my make-up was still perfect. It was true. And to stress matters further… It was make-up from the night before (a big beauty no-no, I know, but if it looks good enough sometimes you just have to keep rocking it).

Have I held you in suspense enough?! It’s almost cruel to hold out on telling you what this magic product is! The product of my dreams is Cargo’s liquid foundation! I never would have known about it had I not decided to go into Sephora and get a full consult on make-up from lip gloss to mascara. It goes on totally smooth, virtually eliminating blemishes, pores and lines while not beng so heavy that you need to pile on a whole bunch more make-up to still look “natural”. It has the best consistency and reflecting power I have seen in a foundation, and if I haven’t stressed it enough… LASTING POWER!

The beauty of it is how attainable Cargo products are. The foundation retails for about $30, lasts for about 3-4 months (and that’s me using it consistently everyday), and is carried at Sephora’s so scouting it out is never a problem either.

Now if I could only find something to make my hair silky and straight when emerging from chlorinated/salt water!

…I’ll keep you posted.

How To Be a Cherry Bomb-Shell

In Fashion on July 29, 2009 at 3:30 pm

How to be a Cherry Bombshell

Women with shiny luminous hair have always made me envious so when I was visiting my estician and confidante, Jill, I commented on how beautiful and shiny her hair looked  She revealed that Cherry Bomb™ was her secret.

Hmmm…intriguing…a friend told Jill, and Jill told me and now I have to tell everyone!

I sought out Cherry Bomb and found it at Chatters for only $ 15.95.  I applied this clear serum on my wet hair after shampoo and cream rinse and then dried my hair with the blow dryer and put the flat-iron to it for the smoothest, sleekest look. So sleek you would think I had been to the salon.   Me? Creating salon quality results, can this be true?

Being a blonde with fine hair with just enough wave to be dangerous Cherry Bomb has become a must-have in my bevy of beauty products. Amazed with the results on my own hair I decided to seek out the master minds behind this great product.

Marinos Thoma and Jack Szatkowski are the genius behind Cherry Bomb. Hair stylists and co-owners of Planet Hair Studio, Marinos explained to me that Cherry Bomb is a heat-activated serum to protect hair from flat-iron damage.  It is not greasy and does not dry your hair out because the two main ingredients are of the highest quality to make sure that doesn’t happen.  Other companies go for cheaper ingredients that are so greasy and thick that they must add alcohol to the product.

Ten years ago with the advent of ceramic flat-irons, Marinos and Jack found that there was no product on the market that prevented the flat-iron from burning the hair.  Off to the labs to produce their own product to work specifically with high heat, “driving the chemists batty” 16 formulas later, Cherry Bomb was born. Oh, baby!

Marinos explained, “It totally works for all hair types.  At the end of the day it is a hair hydrator, it gives thirsty hair a drink. If you stop using it, you can’t get the same results. It’s so addictive we call it “hair crack”.

I asked Marinos for a hair beauty secret to share with all  Crazyfunbabes and he told me, “The best advice is that the #1 mistake 99% of all women make is whether they use a $20 or $ 1 hair conditioner, they rinse out the conditioner in the same temperature as they wash their body: hot water.  When you apply heat to the hair cuticle it opens up, so all of the conditioner does not stick to the hair it goes down the drain. If you rinse your hair in hot water for 1 or 2 minutes you are not only rinsing all the condition but also any of the moisture you had before you had a shower.  When you walk out of the shower your hair is actually drier and coarser than when you went into the shower.”  I thought to myself, guilty as charged.  Marinos went on to explain, “That is why Cherry Bomb works so well, it makes up for the dehydration”.

After all this hot talk, I felt it was time for me to go and take a cold shower but the thought gave me goose bumps.  Marinos and Jack are here to save the day, “we are coming out with an anti-aging product for the hair, shampoo and conditioner that perform in hot water.  Imagine a really good conditioner mixed with Cherry Bomb in it, so when the cuticle expands in the shower, instead of the condition going down the drain, Cherry Bomb sticks in your hair.

Cherry Bomb straight up or mixed with conditioner I am convinced you won’t find a better product on the market to make your hair Hollywood glamorous.

Sex and CES What your Mama didn’t know and you can’t tell her

In CES January 2009, CES Las Vegas 2009, Fashion on January 7, 2009 at 10:34 pm

CES, JANUARY 7, 2009. The Venetian ballroom in Vegas  at CES Unveiled is swarming with male reporters with bad hair and their take on the future has dandruff.

Concerned or confused I couldn’t tell but it had something to with the future and my girly sense was tingling.  It’s now January 7th and  I still don’t feel right.

My only recollection is my Zivio BOOM. It operates where I don’t. See my recollection here . Jenny Barchas, Product Marketing Manager at JOBY.COM promised me it would change my life and she was right. Set up was easy and functional, however, perhaps it’s my magnetic personality but I have problems with attachments.  BTW, as far as the attachments are concerned if you like synthetic products, eat the earbuds, otherwise throw  them away. Other than that, it’s simply brillant.  The design is sleek and sexy.  The telescopic boom makes me a ROCK STAR and I like that a lot.

As I sashay around the the room with my BOOM, I get dizzy and everybody seems to love it. As we speak, I am in front of the Mirage with my Zivio, directing traffic and as the french say, ‘I am oh so courant”, but the police are coming and I must go.

Off to Pepcom’s Digital Experience later today and OMG, it’s a miracle, it’s at the Mirage…so, assuming I will see you there. BFN from CFB

Crazyfunbabe Behind Closed Doors

In Fashion, Fashion, Mobile Phone on September 18, 2008 at 8:55 pm

Always interested in finding out what is really happening in the cities that we crazyfunbabes visit, our curiosity was heightened when we walked along a dark San Francisco street and noticed heavy drapes covering what appeared to be a hole in the wall. We just had to see what was behind that heavy damask.  What we found was Mr. Smith’s and had a blast. Lucky us!

A warm and sexy establishment, Mr. Smith’s has three levels including a main bar area, a VIP lounge and a deep dark dance floor in the basement.

Thanks to the crew running this joint; Dave, Claire and Mark.  We’ll be back!

crazyfunbabes prefer a Gentleman

crazyfunbabes prefer a Gentleman

crazyfunbabes always demand the best, whether it’s diamonds, mobile or men so it tweaked our imagination when we came upon this endangered species campaign at www.savethegentleman.com by Countess Mara, makers of elegant mens’ ties.  To quote from their website “We’re all about the Gentleman.  Some care about the spotted owl. Others about dolphins. We’re 100% committed to the Gentleman”.  One of our more recent Gentlemen sightings was on Rodeo Drive in Hollywood. Actually, we were crossing the street when the most gorgeous guy in a beautiful suit and tie, crossing from the other direction stopped to wish us a great day.  At crazyfunbabe we have to admit we do love a Gentleman, tie or no tie.  A Gentleman is one of our most cherised natural resources.  Thanks Countess Mara for supporting such a noble cause. Now if you’ll excuse us, we have some endangered species watching to do….

2008 Coachella Music Festival

In Fashion on May 2, 2008 at 8:29 pm

Coachella at night

Coachella went off without a hitch this year… Some of us Crazyfunbabes were down there for our first go at the event, and left more than impressed. Not only was it the killer line-up that made the weekend what it was, but you couldn’t walk two steps without seeing the next cutest outfit, talking to someone of interest, or catching a glimpse of celebrities who were there for the music as much as everybody else. In the blazing heat, we loved checking out all the fashion on display and seeing how people kept it stylishly cool. For anyone looking to go next year, a few fashion tips for beating the heat…

  • SUNSCREEN to avoid that terrible burnt nose by day two… and the eventual peeling.
  • Water proof mascara and water-resistant everything else!
  • Breezy clothes that you’re going to feel comfortable in is a must. But remember to bring something to throw on your shoulders if you’re planning on staying to the bitter end! That desert cools down at night!
  • And definitely, if you really want your personal style to standout, MIX-AND-MATCH! There’s nothing worse than seeing a field full of the same dresses from Urban Outfitters and the like when you’re really trying to get noticed!

Various artists had as much fun performing as fans did watching. From classics like Roger Waters, to newbies like Vampire Weekend, that even the constant heat could’nt put a damper on the fun. Some of the favourite shows that we caught were: MGMT, Metric, Justice, Vampire Weekend, The Teenagers, Stars and Gogel Bordello.
